Coasts
I sketch in watercolour, often while walking in Cornwall, North Wales, France.
In Cornwall I visit the area known as The Rame Peninsula, East Cornwall. This area of outstanding natural beauty has gentle vibes, with small coves nestled in the stretches of headlands. Stretching from the vast harbour of Plymouth Sound, to the long beaches at Whitsand, with it's spectacular cliff top road. Dotted with the lovely villages of Portwrinkle, Crafthole, Cawsand - Kingsand and the drama of Rame Head chapel perched on the very tip of the peninsula.
In North Wales I travel around Anglesey, and the coastal areas of Gwynedd, there are so many beautiful and ancient areas to explore.
The Southern most region of France in Catalunya inspires my work from the mountains of the Pyrenees as they meet the Mediterranean sea; a land of vineyards, fruit orchards, and wild forests.
Back in my Cambridge studio I work from sketches into a series of paintings in acrylic on canvas, and larger watercolours.
